What is a person?

What is a person?

Applied Philosophy

Dear Reader,

Living systems are both subjects and objects. The degree to which a species is capable of appreciating and demonstrating moral action determines its personhood. It is for this reason that human beings are considered to be persons.

Moral action is that which balances the interests of the individual with those of the collective. However any determination of what constitutes moral action requires the participation of both the individual and the collective.

Participation itself necessitates a fair trade which is only realised through the pursuit of responsible leadership.

Faithfully yours,
